A Celebration at Applebee’s Eastwood and BGC (with a Kid’s Review)

I had an advance celebration for the future (haha) apple of my eye at the new branch of Applebee’s in Eastwood and a day of Apples (Mac) with my special apprentice at the very first branch of the said Grill & Bar in Bonifacio Global City.

An intimate and  not-so-publicized announcement and celebration at Applebee’s in Eastwood.

As I was chatting with Bob Vallar of Global Restaurant Concepts Inc., he shared that Applebee’s is really a place where people can celebrate everything. Guests can even browse one of the unique walls of chopping boards at the restaurant where a collection of celebrations are displayed (from celebrating a new haircut to a graduation, having a baby, et. al.).

As this place is all about celebration, each table has its own #CelebrateEverything / “There’s always a reason to celebrate” board and I noticed that ours was blank. So, I came up with a brilliant idea to have my advance thanksgiving celebration for my future engagement (a real celebration that is yet to come) with the super nice (including my brother) people around me that day. 😉 Haha!

The ambience at Applebee’s is perfect for intimate family dinners and happy hours or parties with friends. I love the complementing mix of wood, bricks and glass of the restaurant’s interior too!

As I’ve never been in the U.S. yet (yah, I know bummer…), I only heard from friends how big Applebee’s is abroad. I heard that this resto is actually one of the world’s largest casual dining all American brands with more than 2,000 locations in 49 States in the U.S., Guam, Puerto Rico and 15 other countries. And so I kind of expected a lot from my first and second visit when it comes to the food and service of Applebee’s.

In this blog, I’ll be sharing my own list of what to try (and maybe skip) at Applebee’s from their famous appetizers, signature dishes and desserts, and handcrafted drinks. And to make this one extra special, I also invited my “little”, cutest, most adorable and smartest 8-year-old apprentice and friend “AveryDayOK” (her pen name) on my second visit at their BGC branch to review some of the dishes that she tried with me.


So, below are our list (with prices for reference), ratings and recommendations at Applebee’s:

Sriracha Shrimp, Potsticker, Wonton Tacos

If there’s one sure thing that I can recommend at Applebee’s, it’s their appetizers (as in all of them). You could never go wrong with their appetizers and bar snacks.

Here are the appetizers that I tried and highly recommend:

Wonton Taco

The resto’s very own in-house / kitchen-made crispy wonton shells are just the bomb! Filled with spicy chicken, cole slaw and cilantro in every bite.



Juicy and delicious lean ground beef with marinara sauce, topped with Parmesan and served with sliced Ciabatta bread that you can drown in the sauce. My friend who loves meatballs was very happy with this one.


Pot Stickers

Wontons filled with tasty shrimp and pork served with Thai peanut & soy dumpling sauces. I simply love this deep-fried dumpling!


Sriracha Shrimp

If you like your shrimps hot then this crispy shrimp coated with rich and creamy Sriracha chill-lime dip is for you!


Fiesta Chicken Chopped Salad

Perfect fiesta salad! Chopped lettuce tossed with black bean corn salsa, roasted red peppers & onions, tortilla strips, white cheddar and spicy jalapeno dressing, mounded nicely with chimichum glazed grilled chicken. Just perfect.


*Again, I highly recommend everything on my appetizer list 🙂

Fiesta Lime Chicken, Pork Ribs, Three-Cheese Chicken Cavatappi


Pork Ribs

A house specialty! BBQ pork ribs marinated in Applebee’s special house blended, grilled to perfection, served with corn on the cob, french fries and cole slaw with a choice of honey BBQ sauce, smoky chipotle, spicy sweet Asian chili and Korean BBQ Sauce.

I tried their ribs in Smoky Chipotle and Korean BBQ Sauce. As I was busy taking photos and chatting (haha) I wasn’t able to really take advantage and get a taste of this specialty while it was still hot. I think it would have been better if I’ve tried this one warm enough for my palate.

Three-Cheese Chicken Cavatappi

Love this pasta! Some grilled chicken over cavatappi pasta, bruschetta tomato, alfredo sauce and parmesan blend. Perfect for sharing!


Chicken Tenders

I really enjoyed this tender and breaded chicken, which was also served with corn on the cob, fries and cole slaw. A friend ordered some rice with her share. 😉


Fiesta Lime Chicken

Another good-to-share-dish with this grilled chicken done fiesta-style (colorful presentation) with zesty lime sauce, Mexi-ranch and Jack-cheddar (yummy topping on the chix!). Served with crisp tortilla strips, mexi-rice (very tasty rice) and freshly-made pico de gallo.


Quesadilla Burger

This juicy and cheesy burger with Applebee’s signature Mexi-ranch sauce with pico de gallo and shredded lettuce served in a unique Jack and Cheddar quesadillas was my favorite when I tried it at the Eastwood branch.

I was eagerly anticipating for my next serving of this instant favorite at their BGC branch but was quite disappointed. 🙁 The patty was salty and it wasn’t as cheesy as I experienced it the first time.

It made me feel “kilig” or happy. It tasted crunchy and salty. I actually finished the fries.

(JM: Yes, this is so true! All the fries were gone in like “60 seconds”. It was our favorite in all the dishes that it was served with.)

RATING: Very good

PASTA/ Three-Cheese Chicken Cavatappi

The pasta made me feel good. It tasted yummy and it made me remember my dad because we both love cheese.

RATING: Yummy!


I would have high calories because it has too much salt. I think for adults they will enjoy it. But it’s not really for kids like me.

(JM: The first QB that I tried was absolutely fantastic but the second one with AveryDayOK was really salty even for adults.)

RATING: Not really!

Black Forest, Butter Pecan Blondie, Triple Chocolate Meltdown

Butter Pecan Blondie

One of the world-famous desserts from Applebee’s! Baked with nuts, topped with ice cream, glazed pecans and cream cheese sauce, and served sizzling.

One of the guys couldn’t get enough of this dessert. He was such a sweet tooth! This sizzling dessert was good but too sweet for me.

(You may request for the caramel sauce to be served on the side instead.)


Triple Chocolate Meltdown

One of the best sellers! It’s described as a magnificently moist chocolate cake with a fudge-filled center served with Vanilla ice cream and hot fudge.

It was a very enticing description but when I tried it at their BGC branch something tasted wrong. I know it’s hard to perfectly bake something like this one so I’m going to give it another try on my next visit.

(Second chance like in LOVE.)


Blue Ribbon Brownie

Yummy & chewy! Baked with chunks of dark chocolate and nuts draped in hot fudge and served with two scoops of Vanilla ice cream.

This one for me is like love at first sight, love at first bite and forever love. The Blue Ribbon Brownie had me with CHUNKS of dark chocolate. Just like with any perfect love, it has just the perfect ingredients.

Black Forest

“Don’t forget the cherries with Grand Marnier at the bottom”, Bob said. And if Bob said it you should do it. Haha. Seriously, I thank Bob for reminding me about the cherries at the bottom of this FULL dessert in a mason jar. It reminded me of my mom who loved cherries!

A lot of things are going on in this dessert that one might forget the brownie chunks, strawberry jam, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream and the rim that was crusted with frozen chocolate and some pecan nuts. Kinda hard breaking it off from the jar’s rim but a fun way to break the ice haha!

(I don’t have the price, I was busy. Sorry! Will update this one. 🙂

Cookie Milkshare Monster

It tasted very oreo. It’s really for kids but not for me because I am not a sweet tooth. 




Good but if you eat the pizza at first it will just taste like flour. But if you bite more of it, it already has flavor.

Just a few of the drinks that they have. Good shakes and cocktails. My friend loves their frozen margarita!

Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Applebee’s at their newly opened branch in Eastwood. Everything was delicious, the space was huge and the ambience was perfect for families and friends.

While my day with my sweet apprentice AveryDayOK at their first branch in BGC was also good except for some expectations that weren’t met (with my most awaited Quesadilla Burger and Triple Chocolate Meltdown) I still came back last Wednesday evening. This time I enjoyed seeing all my girlfriends getting satisfied with all the dishes that we ordered.

Hope our simple list will help you in deciding what to try and enjoy at Applebee’s. Don’t get intimidated by the prices (and heavy plates and bowls) that they have. Each of their dishes can feed like 2-3 hungry tummies!
